From Alessio to Aisha: Proud Trans teacher at this year’s Om & Bass Festival speaks to OM about the importance of yoga and The Wim Hof Method along her journey from male to female yoga teacher
Introducing Aisha…Aisha is the owner and director of Bodhi Tree Yoga in Pai, Thailand, which is where she met Rachel Cox, the founder and creator of Om & Bass, the popular annual yoga festival.
After their initial meeting, they teamed up to host a Yoga Rave in honour of a local Thai orphanage, raising money by dancing the night away. They have been deeply connected ever since.
Aisha has taught at the online Om & Bass fundraiser for #StopHumanTrafficking alongside yoga and wellness legends such as Kino MacGregor and Wim Hof.
Aisha has been an avid meditator since a very young age as her mother is a Thai From Alessio to Aisha: Proud Trans teacher at this year’s Om & Bass Festival speaks to OM about the importance of yoga and The Wim Hof Method along her journey from male to female yoga teacher Buddhist who encouraged her to meditate regularly. In fact, the name ‘Aisha’ came to her during meditation when kundalini energy completely took over her body… the name involuntarily came out of her mouth!
A daily yoga practice has helped her to embody the divine feminine and ground into her new body. The Wim Hof Method and intuitive divine feminine meditations have similarly been able to keep her mind and emotions as calm as possible during Hormone Replacement Therapy (which can cause huge emotional and psychological turbulence resulting in many people sadly halting their treatment).
Her main teaching style is Yin & Yang Flow, embracing her masculine and feminine side, balancing the two energies in a healthy and conscious way. She is a great and fun teacher.
Aisha, is proud to be seen as an ‘out’ Trans yoga teacher and hopes to be a source of inspiration and education for the LGBT community, but also as a trans role model within the yoga world. Hallelujah and A-Women to that, SiStar! #KeepShining
