Clare Prideaux Yoga is a small studio space looking out onto open fields in rural north Essex. It’s owned by yoga teacher and qualified veterinarian, Clare Prideaux, whose introduction to the practice was more than 20 years ago at the Sivananda Centre in Putney, London.

“I think what makes me slightly different to other yoga teachers is the split between practicing vet and yoga teaching,” she tells OM. “I find they complement each other nicely…different sides of the brain, I guess!”

Prideaux moved to Essex some years ago, had a family, and continued to be a part-time vet alongside enjoying yoga. As a practicing veterinary surgeon, she says yoga has helped her stay strong and flexible in what can be a physically demanding job, as well as maintain a calmer mind during stressful times.

As her yoga practice developed, she found herself wanting to take her understanding to a higher level and trained as a teacher with the Apanaveda School of Yoga. She qualified in May 2022 and now runs regular classes at her home studio space. All classes are offered in her purpose-built garden studio overlooking the fields and woodland in Pattiswick.

“This tranquil space is a unique haven from the hustle and bustle of life and is fully kitted out with all the yoga equipment… so all you need or do is turn up!”

Clare Prideaux and Eloise Hawes will be running a weekend yoga retreat in Gambledown Farm, Hampshire on 13 September. Email via the website for details: clareprideauxyoga.co.uk
