Cooking As A Love Language

One student’s journey from South American adventures to CNM’s Natural Chef kitchen - and what she discovered about food, healing and community along the way.

Food has always been a love language. Growing up surrounded by dinner parties, world cuisines and the joy of shared meals, CNM Natural Chef student Lulu Lorente Carr always knew that cooking was something deeper than nourishment – it was connection. It was care.

It took six months travelling solo through South America – and the absence of a kitchen – to make that truth undeniable. Arriving in Costa Rica and cooking again with fresh, vibrant ingredients brought a clarity that changed everything: food was not just a passion, it was a purpose.

“Using fresh, whole ingredients is just an extra added layer of showing love and compassion,” she says.

That calling led her to CNM’s Natural Chef Diploma – a course that uniquely combines professional culinary training with the principles of naturopathic nutrition. Here, she discovered that healthy food doesn’t have to be bland or restrictive. Rooted in whole foods, seasonal ingredients and conscious cooking, the course showed her how nutrient-rich meals can be vibrant, exciting and full of flavour.

A Natural Chef, she explains, is someone who sees food as a tool for health, healing and human connection – someone who chooses ingredients with intention and prepares them with love.

If you feel drawn to food, nutrition and the power of food as medicine, your own Natural Chef journey could begin right here.
