Reading time: 4 minutes
Pauline, founder of Ajna Ayurveda is a passionate and dedicated complementary therapist, mental health worker and domestic abuse ambassador, bringing holistic ancient traditions into modern medical systems such as the NHS in the United Kingdom, to support communities as they navigate through their trauma using Classical Yoga, Ayurveda, Energy and Sound Healing and more as key resources towards recovery.
With a foundation in the making, whose mission is to support domestic abuse survivors, to offer them a voice and a safe space to share their story, to provide resources and education around the subject, to encourage healing and empowerment, will be launching the Recovery Retreats this year, a series of restorative programs bringing trauma release and emotional healing into focus.
The inaugural retreat will take place in a serene, picturesque village in the South of France, with plans to expand internationally as part of the foundation’s global outreach.
Dr. Reena Sohal, Co-Host of The 5 Elements Retreat and The Recovery Retreat has teamed up with Ajna Ayurveda to bring ancient healing techniques such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Vastu, and Jyotish, to explore the true meaning of health beyond conventional medicine. Her mum’s breast cancer journey led her away from mainstream dentistry and into a path of personal healing with a passion for holistic wellness. Dr Reena Sohal brings a blend of ancient wisdom with lived experience to support and guide participants at these retreats.

What to Expect at the Retreats
Designed to address trauma and its associated emotional and somatic symptoms, the retreats offer a comprehensive and nurturing healing experience using complementary therapeutic techniques:
• Reconnect with Your Body: Through gentle daily yoga asanas (postures), you’ll gradually rebuild a healthy relationship with your body. Breathwork practices will guide you in releasing toxic emotions and thoughts stored physically, an essential step towards recovery as accumulated emotional toxins can lead to diverse chronic conditions and physical ailments.
• From Self-Harm to Self-Care: Incorporating elements from Ayurveda, the 5,000-year-old Indian traditional medical system also known as “the science of life". Participants will learn how to restore balance and self-love. Self-harm manifests in many forms, from neglect, binge eating,
negative self-talk to physical body harm.
• Safe Space: Healing begins when trauma is voiced. You’ll be invited to share your story in a confidential, non-judgmental environment, supported by experienced facilitators who will guide you through this important part of your recovery.
• Energy and Sound Healing: Immerse yourself in soothing soundscapes using Tibetan singing bowls and chanting, designed to calm your soul, reconnect you to your inner self as well as the universe around you.
• Wellness Tools: You’ll gain practical tools and resources that can be seamlessly integrated into your daily routine, helping you build strong, healthy habits for continued balance and well-being long after your retreat.
