As we bid farewell to winter, spring invites us to move and feel lighter. This season of renewal is a natural time to let go of heaviness, reawaken your circulation, and reconnect with yourself and nature. The following sequence is designed to support this transition, gently opening your body, stimulating praṇa, and cultivating a feeling of ease, so we can step into spring feeling refreshed and balanced. Hold all the poses for 10 deep breaths.
Reverse Warrior
Reverse Warrior invites space into the side of your body, encouraging fuller breathing and renewed energy. The pose builds strength in your legs while lengthening the ribs and waist, helping to shake off stagnation and cultivate a sense of optimism and lift as your body awakens from winter.
Wide-Legged Forward Fold with Clasped Hands
This variation of wide-legged forward fold offers a gentle inversion that soothes your nervous system while revitalising circulation. As your arms reach up and over, your shoulders and spine are released, promoting openness through your upper body and a calm, inward focus that supports clarity, grounding, and seasonal renewal.
Eagle Arms
Eagle arms create a deep stretch across your upper back, shoulders, and neck, areas that often hold tension from colder months. This compact shape encourages mindful breathing, improves posture, and supports energetic clearing, while cultivating focus, balance, and a sense of lightness through your chest and arms.
Double Toe Hold (or Double Foot Hold)
Double toe hold challenges your balance, coordination, and concentration while strengthening your legs and feet. This grounding posture builds stability and confidence, encouraging presence and steady breathing. As spring invites growth and movement, the pose helps establish a strong foundation from which lightness and renewed vitality can emerge.
Camel Pose
Camel pose offers a powerful heart-opening experience that stimulates your energy and encourages emotional release. By expanding your chest and front body, it counteracts slouching and lethargy, invigorates the spine, and promotes confidence and resilience, supporting a sense of openness and enthusiasm as spring unfolds.
Seal your practice with renewal
After moving through these five yoga poses, take a few moments in a comfortable seated position or resting in savasana. Allow your breath to soften and notice the gentle sense of openness and clarity that follows. This spring-inspired yoga sequence is an invitation to refresh your body and mind, and celebrating new beginnings.
