Wild Wellbeing Yoga Safari Retreat
The yoga safari retreat: a growing trend in wellness travel
As wellness travel continues to evolve, yoga safari retreats are emerging as one of the most nourishing ways to reconnect with nature, self and spirit. Blending daily yoga practices with the raw beauty of the African wilderness, this unique retreat trend offers an experience that is both grounding and expansive.
Hosted by Amrita Jules of Africa Mystic Travel, the Wild Wellbeing Yoga Safari Retreat takes place this November across Zimbabwe and Botswana. Originally from Zimbabwe and now based in the UK, Amrita Jules’ childhood connection to a slower, nature-based way of life inspires her to create unique Africa-based retreats that honour presence, simplicity and deep restoration in nature.
The journey begins in northwest Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls, the largest sheet of falling water in the world. Guests arrive and enjoy an overnight stay in a luxury hotel and a tour of the falls before continuing into Botswana. From here, the retreat unfolds at Munga Plains Retreat Eco-Camp, a secluded sanctuary offering luxury glamping far from the tourist trail.
At the heart of the experience is Chobe National Park, home to the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa. Days are shaped by a variety of safaris surrounded by wildlife and prolific birdlife, sunset cruises along the Chobe River and evenings under vast, star-filled skies.
November falls within Botswana’s ‘Green Season’, bringing lush landscapes, a chance to see newborn wildlife and a sense of spacious calm — the perfect backdrop for open-air yoga, meditation and reflection. Nourishing cuisine, conservation-led experiences and time to truly unplug support holistic wellbeing.
In the stillness of the savannah, yoga becomes more than a practice — it becomes a pathway to deep listening, renewal and balance. Those feeling called to experience Africa in this conscious, embodied way are warmly invited to explore this journey further.
