USA: Wellness tourism
The global market for yoga tourism is set to grow at 3.9% over the coming years, according to a report. The Yoga Tourism Market: Global Strategic Business Report estimates the sector’s value at $177.1 billion in 2024, rising to $222.5 billion by 2030. Key drivers include rising demand for wellness travel, spiritual tourism, and a growing emphasis on stress reduction “as travellers shift away from conventional vacations toward experiences that promote self-care and inner peace,” the report notes.
Canada: Lululemon at large
Canada’s lululemon has its sights set on Eastern Europe this year. The yoga fashion brand plans to expand its international presence in 2026 with new market entries into Greece, Austria, Poland, Hungary and Romania through franchise partnerships. It follows entry into Italy last year, as well as recent openings in Denmark, Turkey and Belgium. The multi billion dollar yoga enterprise also has its sights set on India, the birthplace of yoga, with its vast and growing retail market, as part of a global expansion strategy.
UK: Hello Alo
Alo Yoga is stepping up its UK presence again this year after a series new store openings in 2025. The US based yoga group made its London debut in 2023, before opening further stores in the capital, and then in Manchester. This year, it is planning a further expansion, this time in Leeds. “At Alo, we believe wellness is best experienced collectively — these sanctuaries are envisioned as hubs for movement, mindfulness, and community,” Summer Nacewicz, Alo Yoga executive vice president of marketing and creative, was quoted as saying by Retail Gazette.
INDIA: Yogasana champs
The Universal Yoga Sports Federation recently celebrated the 4th UYSF World Yoga Cup 2025, a showcase for competitive yoga. The tournament welcomed athletes from multiple categories and age groups, culminating in the crowning of the Champion of Champions, said UYSF world president, Suresh Kumar. “These athletes…have inspired the world through discipline, dedication and yogic mastery. UYSF remains committed to elevating yoga as a respected global sport.”
USA: Great grandma
Yoga is good for you! Elaina Gonzalez, a 93-year old grandma from Minnesota, cites a positive mindset plus yoga and dancing at the gym at least four times a week as key factors behind her longevity and youthful looks. A former body double for a glamorous but undisclosed Hollywood star, she also swears by the theory: don't sweat the small stuff. And, above all, be grateful for life’s wonders. “I always start the day with a little prayer of gratitude,” she was quoted as saying by Business Insider.
