Love Your Yoga Mat

Start the New Year with your radiance

To have your own mat, to use at home or take to class, is a commitment to yourself. Marking out the space is part of the ritual. A dedicated space for you. ecoYoga’s motivation for 2026 is the same as it was when they launched in 2003: Take a moment for you, for practice, and in that moment consider what mat you use, where it was made, by whom and from what. How lightly do I tread?

The ecoYoga jute mats are made in the UK using natural raw materials. This is their commitment to the practice and to you: blending sustainability with mindfulness, offering a collection of eco friendly yoga mats that honour the values of yoga.

Their mats have fantastic grip and are made from plant-based ingredients: woven jute (hessian) and 100% natural latex rubber. No fillers or synthetic substances are used to cheapen, hasten nor ease the manufacturing process. No glues. No animal derivatives. The density of rubber was increased in 2006 to help with durability, beyond that the mats have not changed in 23 years.

By name, by nature, ecoYoga’s intention is epitomised in what they call their wabi-sabi mats. These are the mats that lack the continuity conventional manufacture and most consumers understand. To avert any unnecessary disposal, inconsistencies are inspected with practical and aesthetic discretion. These are the wabi-sabi mats.

In truth, by using raw natural ingredients, all ecoYoga mats embrace the philosophy wabi-sabi for it welcomes the unexpected, it reorders priorities and pays attention to the small wonders.

Wabi relates to simplicity: the movement toward having less and living with nature. Sabi is the acceptance of imperfection. This is yoga! This is respecting the world as sanctuary; in the words of Henryk Skolimowski: “a move toward reverential, compassionate thinking starting with our own simple gestures toward how we want the world to be.”

When ecoYoga Ltd created their yoga mats in 2003, Henryk Skolimowski’s book EcoYoga: Practice & Meditations for Walking in Beauty on the Earth was out of print. They contacted the author to tell him how his thoughtful words and integrity had inspired them on their journey to create a company that shared his hope for what he called “a sane and radiant” future. Skolimowski’s eco-philosophy was truly a reflection of how ecoYoga’s founders experienced their yoga practice: an act of reverence, spiritual nourishment and meditation.
