OM Yoga Show 2025

Building community through yoga

While yoga can begin as a personal journey on the mat, its true power often emerges through connection: with others, with ourselves and with a wider purpose. That sense of belonging is at the heart of the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY), one of this year’s show sponsors

Reading time: 2 minutes

For 60 years, BWY has been supporting yoga practitioners and teachers across the UK through high-quality courses, inspiring events and a nationwide network of 12 communities. As a registered charity, BWY is committed to making yoga accessible, inclusive and meaningful — not as a form of exercise, but as a lifelong path of learning, wellbeing and connection.

BWY communities across Britain, from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands, are led by dedicated volunteers who bring yoga to local halls and schools. They help carry BWY forward – not only through training and events, but through real human connection.

Donna Negus has volunteered with BWY for six years in roles including regional newsletter editor. For her, it’s all about bringing people together. “Practicing yoga with others and being with like-minded people allows us to find refuge in a world that can often feel overwhelming,” she says. “Yoga has the amazing ability to create a feeling of warmth and belonging – and that begins with every BWY member. It is a privilege to bring people together in one space, sharing the wealth of knowledge that our teachers offer. The community we build through shared experience is truly heartwarming.”

Whether through a Foundation course opening the door to teacher training, a CPD day for deeper practice, or simply sharing tea and conversation after class – members consistently highlight that community is one of the greatest benefits.

Experience the joy of shared learning and connection at this year’s OM Yoga Show. BWY will run nine free yoga sessions on the BWY-sponsored Open Stage. Led by experienced BWY teachers, these classes reflect the diversity of styles BWY embraces.

Visit the BWY stand [S2] to discover how you can become part of this supportive community. Show attendees will receive an extra month's free membership when signing up and a complimentary copy of Spectrum magazine, its members' magazine filled with yoga insights, community stories and teaching resources. You can also pick up a prospectus of the courses on offer to advance your learning.

BWY members benefit from more than just classes and courses. Six free expert led online masterclasses each year, discounts on yoga equipment and books, a subscription to Spectrum magazine and a growing library of resources are just part of the offering. Through a network of regional and national hubs across Britain, members find opportunities to connect, learn and share experiences.

The BWY doesn’t just teach yoga. It builds community, nurtures lifelong learning and empowers people to use yoga for personal growth and positive change.
