The Beauty of Bodies
When was the last time you had a conversation with your body? I mean a true heart to heart? What about asking your body what it would like? What would it like to eat or drink? What would it like to wear?
Reading time: 4 minutes
What if your body could actually reply to those questions? Would you approach food differently? Would you approach clothing differently? What about moving your body?
What we have been taught from a very young age is that bodies are just living meat and you have to direct, dictate or force it to do what you want. And with that approach, we find things quite cumbersome, don't we?
What if all that struggle with our bodies is our body's way of communicating with us? What if it's saying: “Hey, hold on here, this doesn't work for me!”
If you get anything from this, it would be to just give it a go and start a conversation with your body. Something simple: “Hey body, how are you doing today?”. How does your body respond? How does it feel when you ask it that question? What about asking what it would like? How does it respond then?
When asking your body questions, it is not going to communicate the conventional way. The way it communicates is a medium of communication older than time itself. That medium of communication is energy. Is it subtle? It can be. What about when it is less subtle? Is it shouting out for recognition? What about when you don't listen at all? Would your body find another way to communicate? That is when illness or disease steps in. Yes, that is a form of communication. It's the loudest way your body can get your attention.
What if we started listening, really listening, to what our bodies were communicating to us? Would it be revealed that they have our back? Absolutely! Although it won't always seem logical, in fact most of the time, it won't seem logical at all. It has an innate wisdom that precedes logic. It goes beyond logic, far beyond it. And that is the beauty of bodies!
Who do you spend the most time with? Your body. You spend your entire life with your body. Are you friends with your body? It's definitely friends with you. A best friend in fact. Who else has put up with you this long?
Jokes aside, your body is always looking to gift and contribute to you. It communicates a lot of information to you constantly. Not just about what food works for it at that moment, or if it's even hungry, but also about everything going on around you. If it's language is energy, would it not be able to perceive the energies around it? When you walk into a room, you can feel the vibe, right? Who communicated that with you? You see a person on the street. There's something off about them, you're not sure what, though there is a “vibe”. Who communicated that with you?
What about those days you are just feeling down or anxious, no logical reason, just an off day. What if your body is telling you about someone down the road who has lost their job ? And those feelings you get when you know a loved one, a friend, is having a rough time. Sometimes it comes through as a thought about them and you get the sense to reach out. It's not logical, although it occurs often. Many people have a story or 2 to tell about that. Think about the Great Depression, it wasn't just a physical struggle, it was a global emotion that virtually everyone felt.
Bodies communicate with other bodies, whether you are willing to be aware of it or not. And bodies don't have a point of view of what information they receive. When you have a reaction to something, it's you who has the resistive point of view. Your body’s just saying: “Hey, look at that!”. Think of a small child in a world of wonderment. No discernment, just a whirlwind of curiosity.
This energetic communication follows through all things living. If you pay attention to nature, very little is “said”, its all “vibes”. The antelope silently grazing, the lioness’s stalking in the long grass. What about a litter of kittens playing? Even if there’s a conflict, there are noises, though the main communication is energy. A murmuration of birds, a seemingly near impossible feat, yet no collision occurs.
So what if you could communicate with your body like you would with a best friend? A parent? What would your life be like going forward if today you started a fresh new line of communication with your body and were willing to listen to what it had to say?
