Trust your intuition: a short meditation to tap into your inner wisdom. By Jill Lawson

Intuition is the ability to know or understand something without thought or reason. It is a feeling that transcends logic in favour of an instinct. We all have an intuitive ability, but our inner voice often falls silent as life’s daily noise tends to quieten it.

With a future full of unknowns, a keen intuition offers comfort. In times of uncertainty, a sense of inner knowing can provide peace of mind. Thankfully, we can revive our intuitive skills with a bit of work and get back to trusting our inner wisdom when facing the unfamiliar.

Practice the following meditation to enhance your intuition when you feel indecisive or uncertain about your future.

Do it now

Begin in a comfortable position, free from distractions. Take several deep breaths to clear your mind and relax your body. Now, think back to the last time your intuition served you. Remember how powerful it felt to trust yourself when you had a hunch you were right. Notice every detail of that insightful moment. Next, scan your body for physical sensations associated with your inner knowing. Do you have a gut feeling? Is your heart pounding? Does your mind feel as if it is on high alert? Noticing where these sensations reside helps you read and understand the language of your inner voice.

As yogis, we know chakras energetically govern specific areas of our bodies, and that energy can influence our decision-making process.

Intuition is no different. For example, if you feel a lump in your throat, look closely at the conflict with logic in speaking your truth.

Our inner wisdom manifests and expresses itself from the root to the crown, depending on the message.

To honour this powerful sense, we need to detach from the hustle and bustle of everyday life momentarily. Then, by slowing down, paying attention, feeling, and listening, we can better understand what our intuitive energy is trying to convey.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by a future full of possibilities. How do we know which decision is the right one to make? Navigating the unknown becomes less of a challenge when we apply the power of intuition.

Trusting ourselves is vital. In times of uncertainty, our inner wisdom will be there to guide us if we listen to it. By paying attention to the messages coming through our energy centres, we can find comfort when our future is in question.
