Open your senses and reconnect with the natural world by forest bathing in the beautiful
South Downs this month
When things get stressful, nothing beats a gentle walk in the woods – barefoot if the weather is fine.
Being in nature is one of the most beneficial things we can do to wipe away the stress of our modern, computer-filled, high-octane existence. And it's available to us pretty much anywhere and everywhere.
If you really want to really unplug, though, why not do it in style and combine your reconnection with Mother Earth with a luxe weekend away?
This month, head into the wilds with Helena Skoog, an expert in forest bathing (Shinrin-Yoku), at The Spa at South Lodge in the Sussex countryside for a full nature immersion experience.
Enjoy a weekend learning this traditional Japanese awareness meditation, proven to be a profound antidote to anxiety, depression, fear and tension, all whilst enjoying the comfort and exceptional service at one of the region's top spa hotels.
South Lodge is located in the beautiful South Downs, one of southern England's most attractive natural playgrounds.
You will develop a sense of inner peace and stillness that will be supported and encouraged by nature's living, ever-changing process. Absolutely no experience necessary: the requirements are a willingness to let go of your troubles, fears, worries and anxieties.
Arrive for a morning wellbeing session of Qi-gong and breathwork in the serene surroundings of the spa hotel's holistic studio. After a light lunch, head outside for a simple forest walk with Skoog, the founder of Forest Bathing Sussex, who will facilitate and enable an immersive experience, whereby the forest languages of renewal, growth, change and impermanence will become your experiential second nature.
Afterwards, there will be plenty of time for relaxing in the award-winning spa complete with sauna and steam rooms, infinity pool, outdoor vitality pool and wild swimming pool, before dinner in the evening.
The forest is calling you.
