Embracing Injuries and Limitations

Embracing Injuries and Limitations

Hello Beautiful Souls

As a former dancer and a yogi, I haven’t always followed the path of ahimsa (non-violence) in my practice. In the pursuit of perfection, I often pushed past my limits, ignoring the whispers of my body asking for rest. Over time, this approach led to injuries that became unavoidable teachers. Learning to embrace these injuries and the limitations they brought wasn’t easy, but it was transformative—both as a practitioner and as a teacher.

I’ve come to understand that injuries and setbacks aren’t signs of failure or weakness. They are moments of adjustment, like changing the sails to harness the wind and navigate a new course. Yoga has shown me that the body is never broken; it is constantly adapting, inviting us to deepen our connection to the present moment and ourselves.

Through yoga, I learned to love my body as it is—to honor its changes and work with its limitations instead of resisting them. This journey has not only shaped my physical practice but also taught me to embrace emotional challenges with the same compassion and patience. Each limitation, whether physical or emotional, has become an opportunity to practice svadhyaya (self-study) and to cultivate resilience, mindfulness, and gratitude.

Together, let’s move with awareness, breathe with intention, and honour the body as it is. Through gentle poses, mindful adaptations, and breathwork, we’ll discover how to adjust the sails and find strength, grace, and growth on the journey.

Warmly,
Tessa
