Sociologist and meditation teacher, trained in a variety of Indian and Zen practices as well as the MBCT/MBSR programs.
Dr Tina Basi is the founder of Roam Within. She is a sociologist and meditation teacher who has worked with some of the world’s top technology corporations and universities. She also trained to teach the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) programs at the Sussex Mindfulness Centre, NHS Trust - the only mindfulness teacher training and clinical research centre embedded in the NHS.Based at the Centre for Research in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Cambridge, she has been awarded funding by the Economic Social Research Council for venture research in the wellness sector.
Roam Within is grounded in scientific research, some of which is shared below. The venture is working alongside researchers at the University of Cambridge to validate early research findings. Tina’s journey into the healing powers of meditation began in 2002 when she moved to Delhi, India for her doctoral fieldwork. As an ethnographer, she immersed herself in the country’s rich heritage, extensive literature, and esoteric daily practices. It is a journey that is far from over and Roam Within is the next step.
Qualifications
PhD in Sociology, trained in the one year course for MBCT/MBSR teacher training at the Sussex Mindfulness Centre. Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts and co-lead of the Mindful Living Network.
