Embrace the change! Menopause is not the end…it’s a natural transition marking the end of menstruation. Although the symptoms may not feel like it, the changes will reveal a new you!

All women experience menopause, which has three stages. The first is perimenopause, when hormones begin to fluctuate and periods may be irregular. The second stage is when there is no period for 12 consecutive months; it is the one day after the 365 days that is ‘menopause’. The third stage is post menopause, essentially the rest of your life.

The decline of the sex steroid hormones, namely oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone, are responsible for menopause symptoms, causing physical and psychological changes. Some women have no symptoms whereas others experience debilitating symptoms, most common are brain fog and hot flushes.

Menopause can be a challenging time; however, symptoms can be managed through adopting a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, exercise and getting enough sleep. One recommendation is keeping a journal of symptoms you experience and this information can be a reliable tool when having a conversation with a health professional or menopause coach.

If you want a holistic approach to your menopause, start by understanding how your body is affected, you can start by making small shifts to optimise your health. Menopause is a time to get to know yourself again, prioritise yourself, your wellbeing, listen to your body and make choices that are right for you — to have a healthy menopause.
